Scala Developer Needed – High Performance Trading Technology Team in Leading Fintech – New York/Connecticut

About The Role

A market-leading fintech creating state-of-the-art portfolio management technology is currently searching for Scala Engineers. They have experienced exponential growth across all major business lines and are looking to expand their Trading Technology team in particular to the US.


The program of work involves the build-out of their high throughput Order Management System using Scala, Akka, Spark, and Catz. Developing scalable new features with the ability to own your own space while communicating closely with the business as new projects are released. The team is currently undergoing a large cloud migration aiming to be entirely AWS native this year.


The firm has no entrenched bureaucracy and has been able to push for use of the latest technologies while investing heavily in new learning opportunities for employees. This team in particular is a top priority for the business and has signed off extensive multi-year funding and scope for individual autonomy over their work.


Required Technology:

  • 3+ years Scala, Java, or any other JVM language

  • Exposure to various design solutions and the ability to use common design patterns.

  • Experience developing back-end components.

Requirements:

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Interest in functional programming.

  • Understanding of how to solve various business problems, using a variety of tools.

  • Experience collaborating with other developers on secure and controlled solutions.

  • Knowledge of industry wide technology strategies and best practices.

Preferred Experience

  • Exposure to Scala technologies such as Akka, Spark, and Play

  • Exposure to Scala frameworks such as Scalaz or Catz
