About The Role
A global Video Streaming giant is building out a brand new engineering team to launch its business into new markets and consumer bases. Their AWS-based platforms underpin some of the best-known movie and TV franchises, as well as several live TV and Sports streams watched by over 100 million users globally.
With their ever-expanding array of entertainment and consumer base, they're placing a huge emphasis on building out a bleeding-edge predictive consumer analytics platform. They want to hire a top Java Engineer, passionate about using the latest opensource software (such as Kafka, Terraform, Grafana, Kubernetes, Jaeger, Prometheus etc) to enable them to change the way predictive analytics is done and launch their business forward.
You'd be involved in the technical roadmap and architecture as well as engineering, whilst mentoring more junior engineers and learning from top technologists in a highly collaborative, culture-first environment where you are encouraged to widen your technical skillset.

Required skills:
Expertise in Java and/or Kotlin, Scala
Experience building and deploying into an AWS environment (or other public cloud)
Strong experience in building out RestAPIs
Background in Agile and XP engineering with TDD, BDD, Pair Programming etc
Desired skills:
Good engineering/design principles
Understanding of computer science fundamentals such as complexity, design patterns, algorithms etc.
Experience with the latest DevOps CI/CD tools
Understanding of cloud containerisation tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, Istio
